I'm keeping my tree up

It's too hectic this time of year for me, so much so that I am unable to have quiet time to sit by the twinkly lights and read a book or watch an old movie, so my tree stays up until the end of January.  That's that.

(Making this photo was a nightmare.  It was actually done while at the beach house over the summer... I had a very tall plastic bottle inside my 'ponytail' but still had to loop my hair over the top since the bottle wasn't tall enough.  Then, every time I breathed, the bottle would 'skitter' and tip over, ruining the decorations.  I finally got the shot, not the best, but good enough!  Once I disassembled the 'tree', I proceeded to cut almost 8" off my hair, and rewarded myself with a day at the beach.)

Digital Painting

'Not Your Clown' series collage-y piece.  It's that time of year when I am scanning polaroids from summer, and sidetracking from the tedious process with some digital paintings, doodles, and other more exciting (than scanning) things.

Summer's End

Tomorrow is the technical last day of summer.   The official day is not something which normally 'counts' in my opinion, but this year especially it pretty much spot on.  Since returning from the beach house this year the weather has been lousy.  I've not had any nice day to sit in the park with my sketchbook to keep my tan alive, (something this otherwise pasty girl likes to do) and the days have been drab and rainy thanks to residual effects of slow moving tropical storms.  To make it worse, it's been hot and muggy.  At least if it's not going to be sunny, I'd rather it be crisp and chilly, appropriate for a cardigan or sleeves.  Instead, it's a subway rider's nightmare.  Blecch.

Here's me in happier times.  Though it is summer, and the days are fitting for the beach, new england temperatures can take quite a dip after sundown, especially at the beach (where I am here) when the wind kicks up.

Locusts

There is so much going on and nothing happening at all.  I'm in the midst of Polaroid and film negative scanning and took a much needed off ramp in order to redirect, focusing some creative energy into playing around with this digital painting from my "I am not your clown" series.  Here is the result, in case anyone still reads here.

Selfie Collage

I'm not much of a blogger, I think this has been established, but I'll try to post randomly like I do from time to time.  Here's a crop of a self portrait collage I've made using multiple photos, paint, and doodles.

Forgot I Had a Blog!

Oops.
Hope all have gotten through the winter time well, and are finally seeing signs of Spring.  I'm sure it will be fleeting, and we'll jump right into full-fledged Summer before you know it, even though we've had two snowstorms within the last month.  ;)
Here are some of a recent series called "I Am Not Your Clown".  They are digital paintings.

Happy New Year, and all that Jazz!

This is a digital painting I did to commemorate the passing of another year, with a reminder to continue to look forward to the future, and to forget about all the crap that happened in the past.  :)
