What Is Sleep?

I don’t get much anymore. Lately it’s in the 2 hours a night range. But between my day job, my creative work, and a dash of social life, all of a sudden I’m busy. My little online shop is slowly increasing. People are finding me, discovering me. I have just finished and sent off a pretty good sized consignment order to an arts organization outside of DC which had contacted me. Next, I m working on artwork for a new Underground Art Magazine (details later) which had discovered my work, and I have a personal project I have been chomping at the bit to get started. I’ve got to get back to scanning and processing my vacation photography; this is a huge, several-week job, but if I wait too long, suddenly it’s winter and they just don’t seem appropriate for uploading to my Flickr account. I was going to try to get a little more sleep tonight since my lower back is in such a spasm I really can’t do very much. But even though it’s so late, (too late) and I’m not likely to get more sleep than usual on this night, I feel so excited to have finished this latest order and for the prospects ahead.

I'm very excited for you , yet sorry you have to work so late into the night. And your poor back. My hope is these outside jobs continue to bring more and your art becomes your day job.
I really am happy for all that is coming your way.

i just discovered your blog through the comment you left on Fancy Pants.

i'm so glad i found it! it is beautiful and inspiring. i plan to visit often.

i, too, am an identical twin!

your "About Me" bit cracked me up! very whimsical.
also, like you, i love dark chocolate, PBS, chew the inside of my mouth and am not afraid of snakes. seems we have a lot in common. :)

my twin is in my eyes, a very good photographer (although not a professional). i hope to someday blog about some of her work.

i'm looking forward to exploring your blog and your artistry.

The success you deserve...I bet you'll be flooded with it! Keep us updated on each project, please! As far as sleep, I wish I couldn't relate, because I know how important rest is...but I often feel like "sleep..why bother...too much to do and see!" Hope you squeeze in a little shut eye here and there.

I just discovered your blog through the comment you left on Fancy Pants, too!. Georgia and I work together, and she has good taste, so I always check out the blogs she's talking about. Today she raved about yours, and she's right!

I love your work and your writing. I'm glad I stopped by! :)

Maya .... oh yes, especially living in NYC if you sleep you will certainly miss something good no matter what time it is!

Chris .... thank you so much, how kind; you and Georgia are welcome anytime!!

Tracy .... oh yes, to be recognized is really nice even though I don't require it to keep doing what I love to do. Maybe I can afford a chiropractor with a little more success! ;))

The back goes in and out....I will be glad when it's free of pain. I just ride it out. No drugs for me.

Congrats on all the success! I love it when things are busy -- you know, places to go, people to see. Although rest is nice, getting involved in a variety of projects can be so invigorating.

Invigorating...well, yes, it IS that!! :D

Ok so you are making me feel soo much better, as I am not the only one getting by with no sleep. I keep telling myself daily to step away at a decent time, but with all the day holds I need that time.

Hope all is well, :)) Looks like it is, congrats on all the upcoming features.. I still need to get a print soon.

From another night owl.
