Sidewalk Vignette

I love to walk through my neighborhood, strolling up and down the little narrow streets.  Some are cobblestone, others paved, all with character and history and at night, each holds it's own little side show.  I suppose you might need a particular eye to enjoy or notice them, but even after over 20 years residing in Soho, it is a rare week I don't pass by something which makes me gasp.

Meekiyu .... thank you, oh gosh, don't we know it... the changes. I long for the past so I could document how this neighborhood changed SO drastically in the last 20+years!

Yes Catherine, and it's not always a good thing... oh for the ability to go back in time and document how it used to be here, but alas I was not into photography. :(

I love this shot! BTW: When I think how many decades we have known each other & how many times I have been to NY, particularly Soho, w/o knowing how close you were, I am so ashamed! Just think of all the great visits we could have had! The last trip was '05, one night, to see U2 cuz it was sold out in Houston.

Jim... why thank you (squeegies up one eye and raises the opposite eyebrow)!
Beth .... oh how bizarre!!

I agree!! I lived in the east village for a very long time. I was born in NYC in Manhattan. And loved loved walking the streets at night in the village and soho. I lived by Joe's pub where I use to work as a waitress. And I would walk late at night enjoying the sights of bright city lights and the art all around me. Then I would go to Pick me up on weekends amd mogador for coffee and lunch. MMMMM I remember and I loved it. Your photo portrays the beauty of all the nights I walked those streets, magical beautiful yet dark.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog & commenting about winter. You summed up exactly how I feel!! I want a cold & snowy winter so that I'll actually appreciate a warm summer. Right now, I just hate summer. It's hot and buggy and just gross! I think we may get some snow this weekend though so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Seattle .... welcome and visit often!
Itsy ... Oh how wonderful, I know you know exactly then what I mean!!
Whimsy .... I know! Here, too... my fingers are double-crossed. :)

What a beautiful shot, sMacThoughts!

The building looks vintage and reminds me of the 1920's for some reason.

Thanks for sharing a bit of SoHo with us!
