this picture is really neat. for me, it evokes vintage shots of people on the beach in New England at the early part of the 1900s—i think that striped towel is the biggest reason.
the striped motif was such the in thing back in those days.
michelle .... I rarely shoot people other than my sister simply because I am so worried about imposing or violating privacy. I so wish I could be more brave about it because people are SO fascinating! Thank you for your kind words. :)
georgia .... Oh you are so right...those big striped bathing suits (if they could be called that) women wore that looked like puff sleeved 'onesies' with puff legs which hit at about the knee. And those canvas awnings and beach umbrellas!
hey... is there any way to tell from your photo's which camera's you are using? Can I tell from Flickr? Just curious? I love the feel of this one? I'm guessing it's the SX-70, but you've got so many. Dont want you to give away all your secrets, so please tell me to mind my own business( she says with a smile)
Sandy .... yes, the tags on the right hand margin of photo's page will often have the camera I used as well as other things not in the caption. This is not polaroid, it is a plastic camera called a Holga. I have two of them: one is medium format/120mm film (this one) and the other is 35mm.
I love this one! It has all kind of emotion running through it. I think of my husband and myself and hope that he will always have that mischievious love for me. lol I don't know about the opening the towel for the world to see, but at that point...who cares?
I live in NYC, love all forms of art, old scary movies, PBS, and dark chocolate. I have an identical twin sister, chew the inside of my mouth, do not fear snakes, (but will burst into a Native American War Dance at the sight of a cockroach, complete with yodeling) love three-legged dogs and one-eyed cats, but have neither, and sing the 'Our Father' in funny renditions every night before bed.
