Birds

Some recent illustrations I've been working on concurrently with another ongoing series (something completely different from this which I'll talk about hopefully soon.)  They are titled from left to right: Bird Bath, Hoping For a Sign, and Shabby Chick.  [click the photos to see better]
Here's a better view of some details of each one.

As I've spoken about in the past, I'm an avid doodler, particularly at work.  Little pencil (these) or ballpoint pen sketches (and I do mean little, these are about an inch tall!) made during the day get tossed in my bag to be scanned larger once I get home. These I'll work on for hours, upon hours painting, adding texture and so on.  It's a process I love to get lost in; the time elapses and I'll suddenly realize I've not yet showered, or eaten, or run my errands, or.....

LOVE your birdies. I especially love the middle birdie's eyes in the pencil drawing. ADORABLE. Maybe a magnet?????? xoxo

Yeah, she does have a funny expression, too. I think I've seen petulant children like that! :P

OHH... yes, maybe magnets down the road!

I love the colors you've used in these...the bright yellow and blue against the gritty brown-grey is really appealing.

Thanks, Victoria... I always love a little grunge in my work. :)

Yay, for the birdies, I love em!!!
I'm glad somebody else has a day job. I'm a closet sticky note sketcher myself. I'm getting jealous of all the artists who just get to make art.....yikes, did I say that!!!
Yay!

sMacThoughts said...

Oh Tara, I am, too. I have dreams of being a full-time artist AND being able to pay this outrageous rent here in my wonderful city.
